Breaking New Ground: Darth Maul Comic to launch
Hello Star Wars friends!
Some news fresh of the press (not really - genuinely last week) we are getting a new Marvel comics mini series launching at the start of 2017. Comprising of five issues the series will debut in February and will tell the tale of Darth Maul hunting down the scum and villainy of the galaxy far far away, eventually meeting a Jedi Padawan. (doesn't bode well for that Padawan).
The most interesting aspect of this announcement is when it takes place. This is pre Episode 1. We are breaking new ground here as this will be the earliest story in the canon since the refresh a few years ago. Exciting times.
...however, as much as I love Darth Maul (Ep 1 was the first Star Wars film I saw in the cinema), I do have a slight problem with it. I mean we have already had a Darth Maul comic in the canon so could we have truly broken new ground and had a brand new character?! I understand why they didn't go down this line with Kanan not selling so well as well as them giving Aphra her own comic but it would have been nice.
However, lets not complain, it's still new Star Wars and that keeps me happy and if the art is as consistently feisty as that cover than oh boy it could be a doozy!
